Winter is in full throttle, which means so is flu season. Here you will find tips to keep you healthy and flu-free for 2015.
Wash your hands.
Washing and sanitizing your hands often will help protect you from germs and prevent spreading them. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub. Avoid touching railings and door handles when you can and use hand sanitizer when in doubt.
Avoid close contact.
Avoiding close contact with people who are sick will help prevent you from catching illness. Likewise, when you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick as well.
Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or blow into your elbow when coughing or sneezing to help prevent those around you from getting sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
Practice good health habits.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, exercise frequently, keep stress at a minimum, drink plenty of water, be wary of pitch-ins and potlucks, and eat nutritious food.
Stay home when you are ill.
To help prevent others from catching your illness, it’s best to stay home from work and school, if at all possible. Remember, rest and relaxation can do a world of good when you are sick!
